Virginia High School League

Effortless usability.

A long-standing, statewide alliance for school activities gets an easier-to-use website and a new app to aid the official application and testing process.

Challenge

Give users a clean-cut, easy-to-use web experience.

Wanting to provide their current and potential users with easy-to-find information, the VHSL found themselves using a method that was no longer beneficial.

More was attainable.

Website

Saying goodbye to the clutter.

The redesigned VHSL site organized the numerous categories into a more functional experience, with added iconography and organized dropdown menus, users can now get the information they’re looking for with minimal effort.

Iconography

Harmonious visuals.

Creating an icon set aided the more efficient website layout. These icons are brand-specific to the VHSL style guide and continue to support the brand image of the refreshed site.

Web Application

Attainable versatility.

The VHSL needed a more user-friendly web platform for their athletic and academic officials, administration, and regional directors.

Identity

Common denominator.

With so many activities that offer officiating within the Virginia High School League, a whistle was found as the common thread. With the minimalist design and simple custom typeface, the logo creates an easy-to-understand and hard to forget identity.

Outcome

User appreciation.

Now equipped with a user-friendly website and the new whistle web application, the VHSL continues to please its audience. Officials have been able to register, test, and edit any information necessary allowing the VHSL admin to catch their breath with the ease of whistle’s operation.
